Welcome to Key Spot. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the use of our website and the locksmith services provided by Key Spot (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using our website or booking our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Business Information

Key Spot is a registered company operating in:

• Gauteng, South Africa
• Western Cape, South Africa

We specialise in automotive locksmith services, including spare keys, lost keys, key cutting, shell replacement, key repairs, lock repairs, ignition services, and ECU programming.

2. Services We Provide

Our core services include:

1. Spare Vehicle Keys
2. All Keys Lost Recovery (non-destructive vehicle entry & making a new key)
3. Vehicle Key Cutting
4. Key Shell Replacement
5. Key Repairing / Restoration
6. Ignition, Door Lock & Steering Lock Repairs
7. ECU Programming & Repairs

We also provide 24/7 emergency locksmith services, subject to availability and call-out fees.

3. Service Requirements

Before we work on any vehicle, the customer must provide proof of ownership, which includes:

• Valid ID, and
• Vehicle licence disk

We reserve the right to refuse service if adequate proof cannot be provided.

4. Call-Out Fees

Call-out fees:

• Apply to all service requests,
• Depend on distance and location, and
• Are disclosed to the customer before dispatch.

After-hours and emergency call-outs may carry additional charges.

5. Payments

• Payment is due immediately after the job is completed.
• No deposits are required unless specified for special cases (e.g., special-order keys).
• We do not release keys, remotes, or electronic components until full payment has been made.

6. Quotes & Pricing

All quotes provided by Key Spot are estimates and are subject to change after:

• Physical inspection of the vehicle,
• Diagnosis of the lock/ignition/electronic system, or
• Discovery of additional faults.

We will always inform the customer of revised pricing before continuing.

7. Liability & Responsibilities

By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that Key Spot is not liable for:

7.1 Pre-existing Damage

We are not responsible for:

• Already worn, damaged, or failing locks or ignitions
• Mechanical issues caused by age or wear
• Broken keyways, steering lock pins, or worn wafers

7.2 Electrical & ECU Issues

We are not responsible for:

• Existing electrical faults in the vehicle
• ECU or wiring issues unrelated to our work
• Aftermarket, modified, or previously tampered ECUs that fail during programming
• Failures caused by water damage, corrosion, or previous repairs

7.3 Electronics & Programming

We do not guarantee:

• Compatibility with third-party or cheap aftermarket keys
• Longevity of older remotes or damaged circuits
• Successful programming when the vehicle has existing electrical problems

7.4 Limitations of Liability (Legal Protection)

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Key Spot is not liable for:

• Indirect or consequential damages
• Loss of income, vehicle downtime, or inconvenience
• Damage caused by customer misuse
• Faults discovered during the job
• Delays caused by traffic, suppliers, or unexpected issues

8. Refunds & Cancellations

• We do not offer refunds for keys, programming, diagnostics, or call-out fees.
• If a customer cancels after a technician has been dispatched, a cancellation fee or full call-out fee will apply.
• Programming, cutting, and locksmith work cannot be reversed once done, and are therefore non-refundable.

9. Customer Responsibilities

By booking our services, the customer agrees to:

• Provide accurate information about the vehicle
• Ensure the vehicle is accessible and safe to work on
• Pay all fees upon job completion
• Confirm that they have the legal authority to request work on the vehicle

10. Website Terms of Use

10.1 Prohibited Use

You may not:

• Attempt to hack, disrupt, or misuse the website
• Copy, scrape, or reproduce website content without permission
• Upload malicious files, scripts, or harmful code

10.2 Content Accuracy

• Pricing, availability, or service details are always up to date
